Jim Ralph

1 NHL Game

November 10, 1982 Chicago Blackhawks vs Montreal Canadiens. 6-3 win.

Early November, 1982 the Chicago Blackhawks recalled Jim Ralph from the Colorado Flames. Tony Esposito was suffering from a groin injury and coach Orval Tessier decided to give him some rest. Jim Ralph dressed as backup goalie to Murray Bannerman in a game against the Montreal Canadiens. According to a 1982 Ottawa Citizen newspaper, Ralph was schedule to start Chicago's following game, against the Red Wings, but Esposito made an unexpectedly quick recovery and Ralph's NHL stint was over before it could really even begin. He went on to play seven years of pro hockey. In 1987 he signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs but was never recalled to the NHL by the club.

Jim Ralph became a well known personality in the Toronto area after hanging up his skates. He worked for Global Television, TSN and from 2002 to 2013 was Colour Commentator of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
