Pat Conacher

1 NHL Game

March 4, 2014 Vancouver Canucks vs Phoenix Coyotes. 0-1 loss.

On March 4, 2014 the Vancouver Canucks shocked the hockey world when they traded Roberto Luongo to the Florida Panthers. Goalie Jacob Markstrom was heading to Vancouver in the deal but was not going to reach the team in time for their game that night in Arizona. Without a backup goalie the Canucks made some calls and found Pat Conacher Jr., a former goaltender. Conacher was employed at an Arizona hockey school as a goalie instructor when the Canucks came calling. He was simultaneously employed as a scout with the WHL's Victoria Royal, a junior team not far from Vancouver. Pat's father, Pat Conacher Sr., was a member of the Canucks organization. Pat Sr., a Stanley Cup winner and former NHLer, worked for the Canucks as Director of Hockey Operations of their AHL affiliate. Regardless of how they found out about his son, Conacher Jr. was happy to sign an emergency contract with the Canucks and serve as Eddie Lack's backup.

Conacher played Junior A hockey in western Canada from 2002 to 2005. In 2005/2006 he played a handful of games with the Concordian University College of Alberta. The closest he came to playing pro hockey was the fall of 2007 when he signed a tryout agreement with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder and played a few preseason games with the club.
