Carl Repp

2 NHL Games

October 7, 1989 Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers. 5-6 loss.
October 8, 1989 Los Angeles Kings vs Detroit Red Wings. 5-0 win.

Just two games into the 1989/90 NHL season, Los Angles Kings backup goalie Mario Gosselin came down with a bad case of the flu. Carl Repp was recalled to dress as Kelly Hrudey's backup and witnessed a big game in his first stint as an NHL goalie. Wayne Gretzky, on the verge of breaking Gordie Howe's all time point record, was facing his former team, the Edmonton Oilers. The Great One scored two goals but it wasn't enough to give LA the win. Gosselin was soon healthy again and Repp was returned to the minors after two NHL games. Repp's season with the Kings organization was his only year of pro hockey.

The Los Angeles Kings acquired Carl Reep in June, 1989 at the NHL supplemental draft, then used to select overage North American college players. Repp had played four seasons with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds and was named team MVP three times. In 1988 he was even selected to represent Canada at the Spengler Cup.
