Tripp Tracy

1 NHL Game

January 3, 1998 Carolina Hurricanes vs Dallas Stars. 1-6 loss.

A Harvard University Alumni, Tripp Tracy was drafted 218th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1993. He went unsigned by the team and in 1996, after finishing his college career, he was signed by the Hartford Whalers as a free agent. When the franchise relocated to North Carolina in 1997 he followed the organization.

January 2, 1998 the Carolina Hurricanes traded goalie Sean Burke to the Vancouver Canucks in a package that would see former Canucks goalie Kirk McLean join the Hurricanes. McLean was unable to join Carolina for their January 3rd game against the Dallas Stars. To fill their roster Carolina recalled Tripp Tracy from the AHL to dress as backup to Pat Jablonski. Even though Jablonksi allowed 6 goals on 20 shots he remained in net the whole game.

Tracy retired at season's end and assumed the role of color commentator for the Hurricanes, a position he has held for over a dozen years.
